and the Law of the Sea

— Online —

Overview

The Arctic Ocean continues to undergo a rapid transformation due to climate change and the increase of anthropogenic activities. The significant change in the geopolitical conditions due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is also a recent development which may have an impact on Arctic ocean governance. In light of these developments, the International Law Research Program of the Arctic Challenge for Sustainability II (ArCS II) Project is hosting a workshop to discuss new and persistent issues regarding the governance of the Arctic Ocean from the perspective of international law.

The workshop is intended as a form for international law experts to exchange ideas on various legal issues concerning Arctic Ocean governance in light of recent developments. The workshop will be open to registered participants as an online webinar.
